World Read Aloud Day Events
My Very Own Library February 3, 2021 12 Noon CT and 6PM CT
Whether you have fond memories of having bedtime stories read to you, are an educator who encourages students to read aloud to improve their comprehension skills, or someone who simply enjoys the experience of hearing the human voice share a great story, reading aloud can be a treat worth celebrating – particularly on a cold February day.
Join the University of Chicago’s My Very Own Library program in celebrating World Read Aloud Day on Wednesday, February 3, 2021.
My Very Own Library will host two events, in collaboration with our partner Scholastic Book Fairs.
The first event will be held at 12 p.m. CT on February 3. The lunchtime panel, “Power of Literacy,” will be moderated by Duane Davis, executive director of the University of Chicago’s My Very Own Library. Joining us are: Michelle Taylor, CEO of the United Way of Delaware; Courtney Davis, PhD, an author and educator based in the Washington, D.C., area; and Ebony Wilkins, PhD, an author and educator based in Chicago.

The second event will be held at 6 p.m. CT on February 3. It will be a All-star read aloud featuring authors, readers, staff and alumni.
